Accessibility
People work on rooftops, in crawl spaces and in bad light, and some of them use a screen reader or cannot use a mouse. OC Billing should work for them too.

What we aim for
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We are not claiming to have finished: parts of the product have been checked far more closely than others, and where we fall short we would rather say so than let you find out.
What we check, and how
Every screen is tested automatically before any change goes live. A release is stopped if any of these fail, so these are measurements rather than intentions:
- Every control can be named. Buttons and links carry text or a label, so a screen reader announces them rather than saying "button".
- Every field has a label that is really a label, not placeholder text that disappears as you type.
- Every image has alternative text, or is marked as decoration.
- Text meets its contrast ratio — 4.5:1, or 3:1 for large text — measured against what is actually behind it.
- Headings do not skip levels, so the outline a screen reader reads out is the real structure of the page.
- Nothing you tap is under 44 by 44 pixels on a phone.
- No page scrolls sideways, and nothing is cut off by its own container, at phone or desktop size.
Other things we do
- Keyboard focus is always visible, and every action can be reached without a mouse.
- Color is never the only way something is communicated.
- Animation is reduced for anyone whose device asks for that.
- The customer invoice page is plain HTML that works without JavaScript, on an old phone, on a bad connection.
- Text can be enlarged by your browser or phone without the layout breaking.
Where we know we fall short
- We have not been audited by anybody independent.
- Our automated checks cannot judge whether wording is clear, whether a reading order makes sense, or whether a screen is genuinely usable with a screen reader. Those need a person, and we have not had one test the product end to end.
- Photographs and videos uploaded by a business carry whatever description that business gives them, which may be none.
- PDF invoices are generated documents and have not been checked for screen reader structure.
If something does not work for you
Tell us and we will fix it. Email help@ocbilling.com with the page and what happened; you do not need to know the technical term for it. We answer accessibility problems ahead of other work, and if a fix will take time we will tell you how to get the thing done in the meantime.
